Reading Report: 04 June 2023
Another week where Zelda was the focus of everything. Spoilers for story beats around Goron, Rito, and memory tears inside.
🎒 なるたる
Vol 7 (cont)
Only read a tiny bit. There's a small time skip and Shiina is now going to her first year of high school (maybe middle school?) Her dad comments that she hasn't been wearing her backpack much these days (the 竜の子 ホシ丸). It's clear that she's traumatised from having to kill someone dear to her in the last volume.
🔄 One Piece: No progress
Mostly rewatched episodes from 92-96 so no actual story progress and not great immersion. Initially the reason was just because it was low-focus but I ended up doing the last episode rewatch full focus anyway.
I did manage to fit in audio quota for each day, mostly with a combination of DQ9 let's play and a bit of a Monter Hunter 3G let's play.
🗿 ゼルダの伝説:ティアーズ・オブ・ザ・キングダム
Once again the week was full on Zelda addiction. I solved the problems plaguing both the Goron City and Rito Village. The Gorons were dealing with a case of mad-rock disease. I think it was probably one of the weakest stories so far, and the fact that the impetus to ascend death mountain was just to follow a Zelda 分身 felt really weak. Like it was clear the meat was a problem, but ユン wasn't really focused on that and it was resolved as a side effect of other concerns. The Rito story mostly focused on a 猛吹雪 (cool word) produced by a spire of clouds in the sky. The story followed チューリ, who tbh I forgot existed, wanting to prove his manhood by solving the village problem. The ascent was really fun and the dungeon was great too. The way the landscape changes when the frost melts away really felt like a success. Very happy with that one.
I also watched a bulk of the memory drops. I haven't finished them all so I think I'm missing some context but I really liked the details around ソニア. Still sort of waiting for an "aha" moment though.
Life Stuff
School is finally done for the semester! Glad I managed to eke out the final assignments and now I can relax until July.
I'm working on some personal writing projects and expect them to be real things during the break. I think it'll be a nice task to keep me busy, but first I have to beat Zelda...
