Reading Report: 28 May 2023
A fairly light reading report this week. I used most of my downtime to play Zelda so I didn't do much traditional reading. Some spoilers for my adventures in TotK.

Vol 7 (partial)
Between school and feverishly playing the new Zelda, I only read about 60 pages of one volume, but I might as well include it. The very memorable 誤謬 was in this reading session. It came up when one of the 竜使い was confronted by his teacher about why he's leaving education and he's like "in our society we're doomed to all perish. If you could choose between 10 people perishing or sacrificing the 9 worst people to allow the best to survive wouldn't you do that?" and the teacher was like "that's cracked". Indeed. We also get a chapter that includes a young girl doing a Badger Game which gets out of hand and some more heavy stuff happens. Pretty fun.
🏴☠️ One Piece: Up to episode 96
The crew have made their way to the desert continent, アラバスタ王国. They've also met ルフィ's big bro, エース who ate the メラメラの実 and got flames. スモーカー大差 also showed up with his lackeys. It kind of puts into question how the grand line works to me. Some people can just cross the Calm Belt I guess. And I guess 海軍 have Grand Line用 羅針盤 as well :hmm:
The banter between ルフィ and some NPC was very fun when the dude was explaining how this magic powder works. I also liked the dialogue when エース and the rest of the party were exchanging pleasantries when things calm down a bit.
🕳️ ゼルダの伝説：ティアーズ・オブ・ザ・キングダム
If I didn't include this my report would be seriously lacking so... Solved some simple puzzles that talked around the exact names/shapes of things, such as referring to an island in the sky as 空の魚 and describing a shape of rocks as a 雫 (which it seems is really expressing a shape moreso than anything physical in a lot of fantasy). Struggled with some other "puzzles" and I'm not sure if I'm clueless, bad at Japanese, both, or if the game isn't explaining on purpose. Missing any context or awareness of where or how to find/produce a 横笛 (I tried whistling and it didn't work). Guess I need some real music. I'm also totally lost on one puzzle(?). Two statues have said the same thing:城門…水底 (cool reading btw)…閉じ込められ… And like... I want to engage with the things these statues can give me so I want to solve it. Following the leads I ended up In the endgame I think so uh.. I don't think that's what they want me to do.
Life Stuff
Knocked out a lot of school projects. This week I had my presentations for two subjects, submitted a number of others, and things are generally going smoothly. Just a little bit more and I'm done...
