Reading Report: 09 April 2023
This week was about an average pace. I had a few days with quite a lot of reading compared to the expected pace. I also started watching One Piece (from the very beginning). Hoping it will end up being my salvation from my tendency to just do no audio immersion when stuck between choices.
(2026 note: can you believe I was doing emoji theme shit before it was "popularised" (as in no one wanted to do it any more) through LLM garbage lists??? I was a pioneer!)

❄️ 星六花 (finished)
So far this is my favourite story of the book. The main theme is this idea of "searching vs finding" (見つけるんじゃなくて見つかるんだ) especially for the love life for the main character (and subsequently a chance at achieving a life she believes others want her to have). She learns from her love interest that you can't force things like this, sometimes the conditions just aren't in your favour.
🗿 アンモナイトの探し方 (finished)
This story was pretty interesting but nothing to write home about imo. It expresses the stress that the main character (朋樹) is under. He's just a kid but he's dealing with his parent's separation, stress-related hair loss, shame about skipping summer classes, and the stress of deciding on a school and future career. Through a friendship with 戸川, a former museum owner, he learns to focus only on what's between his hands and not overanalyse the future. I guess ;;
👑 天王寺ハイエイタス
Just started. MC chatting to a cafe owner about their 兄貴, who was seen giving money to an old guy in a hawaiian t-shirt and hunting cap... the old guy is apparently 哲おっちゃん…
👾 ドラゴンクエストXオフライン版
I played for a little bit, finishing off the halfway point of the game, getting my human body back, and sort of messing around doing side quests after that point.
Audio: 8 hours
Mostly a mix of audiobooks (同志少女よ、敵を撃て!) and the new master plan, One Piece. I started it about a day ago and I've gone through 8 episodes so far. I'm bad at talking about anime but it's pretty nice so far.
Life Stuff
Last week was the end of week 6 of school, marking the halfway point of the semester. The coming week is Easter break, although I'll be working on projects or running errands most of the days anyway.
A medical concern has also developed and I'll be seeing someone about it soon. Hopefully no big deal but it has caused me quite a lot of stress the last few days.
