"Our Future"

Concept: Raise awareness of Wear it Purple day, August 30th 2024.
Media: Flexible.
Ideation

The prompt and concept of this scamp was quite flexible, so I started by trying to boil the goal down to bare essentials. While it wasn't mentioned in the prompt page some additional considerations I made were that:
- Absolutely focus on purple as the principle colour.
- Follow WearitPurple.org style guides.
- While the goal is to promote acceptance of LGBTQIA+ people, the target audience must include allies to rally support.
- Key terms considered: Safety, Acceptance, Passion, Pride, and Community.
- Including a call to action and link to the official website.

I spent some time coming up with a list of keywords that I felt might be useful to work with for the next stage of ideation. Rather than list keywords by category I tend to just put pen to paper and start writing anything that comes to mind, usually leading to linked chains of connected thought. I then try to move those chained thoughts into a visual medium with thumbnail-sized ideas.
Working the final concept
Once I was happy with a general direction I begun to further iterate on a single concept. In this case I wanted to combine the elements of: Passion (through creativity, the arts, paint) and Community (through the globe, Australia filling with Wear it Purple Purple).
I'm not very artistically talented, especially when it comes to hand-painting elements, so I leveraged a series of Adobe Stock images and some light photo editing to complete the final poster concept.

Final Concepts & Refining
Finally, while the basic concept was determined fairly early on, the design went through a few iterations. The final version is at the top of the page, but here is a side-by-side of versions 1 and 2.
